Hamish KERRDirector / Lead Investigator
Hamish is a former Police Detective with over 10 years service with the New Zealand Police, having worked in the Criminal Investigation Branch. In 1998 he joined the Crime Control Unit, involved in proactive
plain clothes work. This also involved holding liaison positions with the Serious Fraud Office, Immigration Department, The Department of Internal Affairs and the Department of Corrections. He worked on and in
every aspect of investigative work, including Homicide, Rape, Aggravated Robbery and Fraud. His investigative ability was highlighted on a number of occasions with Commendations and citations. Hamish has also
received the highest honour in the New Zealand Police for Bravery relating to the shooting of his Police partner in 1997. His last two years with the Police were with the Auckland Drug Squad where he was
personally involved in the largest seizures of methamphetamine ('P') in New Zealand Police history at that time.
Hamish is now a Director and the Lead Investigator for Scope Investigations. In this role Hamish has planned and executed numerous major investigations, within the corporate and commercial sector, including
major fraud and theft projects, insurance fraud, security risk analysis and provided consultancy for Employment Relations Act matters. Hamish also works with numerous law firms providing litigation support for
both civil and criminal matters. He has experience in the training of other investigators around interviewing and statement taking.
Hamish is also a mobile surveillance specialist and provides training to investigators that require those skills. Hamish is a member of the NZIPI and the New Zealand Society for Risk Management.

Mick LEEInvestigation Manager / Senior Investigator
Mick is a former Police Detective with 17 years experience and brings with him considerable investigation expertise to Scope.
After serving with the Armed Forces during the 1980’s, Mick joined the Police in London which led to a career as a Detective in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand. During this period he dealt with a wide
range of crimes involving theft, deception and violent crime including homicide.
As a Detective on a Major Crime Investigation Team, he worked on police internal enquiries, investigated robberies, international paedophilia networks, serial rapes, anti terrorist operations, homicide
investigations and liaisons with national and international agencies.
Mick is a specialist P.E.A.C.E Advanced Interviewer and an experienced coordinator of suspect, victim and witness interviews. He has trained colleagues and forensically reviewed interviewing and statement
taking techniques.
For the last two years he has been using his investigative abilities for insurers, brokers, business and other agencies in New Zealand and overseas.
Mick will manage and investigate criminal and civil matters within the insurance, commercial, corporate and private client arenas and will be a direct liaison with those clients providing advice and support
throughout.

Grahame BIRDSenior Investigator
Grahame is former Detective Chief Inspector from the United Kingdom where he completed 30 years service before moving to New Zealand in 2007. He joined the Police in 1976 and became a Detective Constable in
1978, where he investigated offences including assault, burglary and robbery, and worked on numerous rape and murder enquiry teams. Grahame was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 1984 and supervised a team of 8
Detectives investigating a wide variety of criminal offences.
In 1989 he was promoted to Inspector.
In the early 1990's Grahame was appointed head of the Essex Fraud Squad and the stolen vehicle squad. His responsibilities included supervising a team of 30 detectives investigating complex frauds, which
involved joint investigations with the serious UK Fraud Office and overseeing a team of 10 officers investigating organised vehicle crime. In 1996 he was promoted to Detective Chief Inspector, where until his
retirement he undertook the roles of Crime Manager and Senior Investigating Officer (SIO). When Grahame moved to New Zealand he worked for the New Zealand Police as a senior file briefing clerk where he
prepared numerous complex High Court prosecution files.
Grahame currently works for Scope Investigations as a senior investigator. In this role he has been part of major investigations within the corporate and commercial sector, including major fraud and theft
projects, insurance fraud and security risk analysis. He brings a wealth of investigation knowledge to Scope Investigations.

Brook BALLANTYNEInvestigations Manager
Prior to joining Scope, Brook has worked for a government department developing IT solutions, an Auditor for 5-star hotels in Canada, and was the Payroll Manager for a large construction company.
Since joining Scope in 2007, Brook has been actively involved in the location of missing persons, location of biological parents and family, various fraud and theft investigations, surveillance,
counter-surveillance and the installation and monitoring of covert camera and GPS tracking surveillance devices.
Brook oversees the ‘Case Track’, Viper, and Extranet case management systems as well as co-ordinating all surveillance projects nationwide.

Tracey BRUCEManager
Tracey worked as an agent in the field for Scope for 3 and a half years. During that time Tracey carried out document serving, repossessions, field calls, third party insurance work and extensive tracing
associated with those files. Tracey also assisted in various capacities with investigation jobs.
Tracey was appointed Scopes Manager in August 2007 and in that capacity manages the Asset Recovery and Legal Solutions team. Her primary focus is concentrated on document serving files & tracing.

Richard KERRDirector
Richard attained a BCom in Marketing & Accounting at Auckland University. Graduating in 1988 he initially worked as an auditor for KMPG where he qualified as a CA in 1992.
Spending 4 and a half years in Europe, Richard worked for PWC and in various roles for a number of large UK banks in their treasuries.
Returning to NZ in 1997 he has held senior commercial and finance positions in a number of organisations including Finance & Operations Controller at Hagemeyer NZ, Finance Director
at Oracle New Zealand and Commercial Projects Manager for a US software firm Epiphany in the UK & Europe. Richard has also provided consulting services focused on IT
implementation and process improvement to organisations such as Foodstuffs NZ.
Richard's role at Scope is focused on commercial management and strategy. He does not participate in investigations.
